I started playing golf at the age of 8 years all thanks to my father and brother’s encouragement. After 2 years of having regular golf lessons I was ready to join Penn Golf Club as a junior member. I wasted no time in getting started and quickly achieved a starting handicap of 23. At the age of 13 I represented the Staffordshire County boys under 14’s team and was a regular on the team. I later became Junior Captain of Penn Golf Club at the age of 16 having achieved a playing handicap of 4. I continued to progress through the County teams, representing the boys under 16’s, under 18’s, Men’s 2nd team and Men’s 1st team before becoming assistant professional in 2003. As a Staffordshire County regular I was winner of the following events:
- Staffordshire County Boys Matchplay Championship (2000)
- Staffordshire County Men’s Matchplay Championship (2004)
During my time at University of Birmingham and training to be a PGA professional, I represented the University Golf team where I was honoured to be one of only a few R&A Bursars, which is a prestigious scholarship for excellence in sport.
Since turning Professional in 2003 I have played many PGA competitions experiencing a mixture of success. Most recently i have been in the Middle East teaching Golf however, i did find time to play some very exclusive championship courses in the regions, to mention just a few; The Royal Golf Club Bahrain, Dubai Creek, Yas Links and Saadiyat Beach Golf Club in Abu Dhabi.
Having the chance to play Professional events at these courses has helped my game improve on many levels and now i am back in England i look forward to the 2014 season.
